Spanakopita

DIRECTIONS:

In a pan, heat olive oil and cook the onion, green onion, garlic, oregano, pepper flakes, salt, and pepper for 5-8 minutes

In a bowl, combine the spinach, dill, feta, and nutmeg.

Once cooled, mix the onion mixture into the feta and spinach.

Cut phyllo sheets into four, short side.

Add melted butter onto a sheet and place a second one on top.

Place a tablespoon of the spinach mixture onto the phyllo.

Fold into triangles.

Cover with melted butter.

Bake for 20 minutes on 350 degrees.

INGREDIENTS

1/2 c. spinach

1/4 c. freshly chopped dill

1 tsp. lemon zest 

2 packages crumbled feta

Pinch of nutmeg (optional)

 

1 tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil

1/2 onion, finely chopped 

2 green onions, thinly sliced 

2 cloves garlic, minced 

1/2 tsp. dried oregano 

1/2 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes (optional)  

Kosher salt

Freshly ground black pepper

 

phyllo sheets, thawed if frozen

melted butter
